Jim was the son of Harmon and Amarette Locklear Stricklin (Strickland). He married Lucille Hunt on Jan. 11, 1912 in Lumberton, NC.
The following was taken from the Mar. 15, 1944 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Funeral services were conducted for Jim Strickland Thursday afternoon at New Bethel church near Rowland by Rev. Tommie Sweat. He died after a short illness and will be missed by lots of friends.
Pallbearers were J. B. Scott, Buster Scott, Beryle Locklear, and Dewey Locklear. Flowers were in charge of Miss Mattie Lou Hardin assisted by Misses Ruth Sweat, Grace Scott, Rosa Scott, Zevonnie Hunt, Cattie Mae Hunt, Lora Frances Lowery, Gerturde Lowery, Madis Spaulding, Jenette Hunt, Lena Fields, Ester Hunt, Vertie Mae Locklear, Clara Bell Locklear, Lizzie Bell Locklear.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lucille Hunt Strickland; two daughters, Marie and Bessie; three sons, Roman, Alexander, and Harman; three brothers and three sisters, all of Lumberton.
