Polly was the daughter of Harmon and Amarette Locklear Stricklin (Strickland). She married Brady Locklear on May 15, 1907 in the Thompson section of Robeson county, North Carolina.
The following was taken from the Sep. 18, 1968 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mrs. Polly Ann Locklear, 82, of Pembroke, died Monday at her home. Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at New Bethel Methodist Church, with the Rev. Wofford Maynor and the Rev. Julian Ransome in charge. Burial will be at the New Bethel Cemetery.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Vista Locklear of Pembroke, Mrs. Willie Jacobs of Fairmont, Mrs. Wade Locklear of Lumberton, Mrs. Arbor Oxendine of Fairmont, Mrs. Richard Barger of Wampenders Falls, N. Y., Mrs. Braddy Carter of Fairmont, Mrs. John Rogers of Fairmont; four sons, Verline Locklear of Woodbury, N.J., William Locklear of Lumberton, Lester Locklear of Pembroke; Dougals Locklear of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Kelly Stewart of Lumberton and Mrs. Lonnie Locklear of Fairmont; 79 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren.
