About Jincy Halford Washington
GEDCOM Note
Daughter of John C. HALFORD and Catharine Brown.
Family story she died in childbirth with baby Catharine estimated between 1841-1844 in/near Russell or Coosa County Alabama.
Jincy is probably a nickname for Janis or Jane.
According to her son John C Washington's death certificate, his mother's name was Jincy Halford. Copy of death cert. available in John C Washington's profile.
Some call her Martha Law per passed down family story told by her grandsons that never met either grandparent, but I have never found source documentation backing that up. Jincy was the daughter of John C and Catherine Brown Halford. She was the first wife of George Washington. She was the mother of Francis Marion, John C and Catherine. Jincy died in childbirth along with baby Catherine. It is not known her place of burial. Her father and husband took a land purchase trip in 1840/1841 to Mississippi and I believe this is when baby Catherine arrived. Burial may be in Russell (Lee) Co., AL, GA or MS.
Her husband George remarried to Mary Ann McEwen, d/o Mary Ann Canada and Kirkham McEwen. Interesting that both her father John C Halford and Kirkham McEwen were Justice's of the Peace.
