About Joan Marguerite Morgan

Joan Wittman Morgan, 86, passed away Dec. 22, 2012.

A longtime resident of Bellevue, Wash., Joan was always a "doer" and blessed with a full life filled with many friends and family. Joan Marguerite Wittman was born Aug. 4, 1926, the fifth of nine children to George and Clara Wittman of Culdesac. She majored in music at the University of Idaho, was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and was "Miss U of Idaho co-ed" her senior year. In 1949, she was crowned queen of the Lewiston Roundup.

Joan worked her way through college, playing piano in a quartet band, and for the phone company. In 1952, she met her husband, Irving (Bo) Morgan, in Seattle while working as a Pan-Am flight attendant. They were married 60 years and raised five children. Joan was an amazing mother; with her special blend of child psychology, love and discipline. Joan was active in Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. Joan is survived by brother, Marvin Wittman; sisters, Ivora Ward and Lorraine Wilkerson; her children, Bruce (wife Angela) Colleen (Mick), Bryce (wife Cathy), Brett, Shannon Komen (husband Greg) and six grandchildren.

Joan was an upbeat and proud person with a great sense of humor. Her love for family and beautiful music will remain in our hearts forever.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue.
