About Joan Wood
William Mullins probably married firstly Elizabeth Wood in Stoke, near Guildford, co. Surrey, England sometime prior to December 1598 – possibly in the early 1590s. She was the daughter of John and Joan (Taylor) Wood. She died sometime prior to 1604.[16]
Elizabeth (Wood) Mullins, was not a descendant of Olive (Harman) Atwood and Nicholas Atwood of Sanderstead, Surrey, Eng. However, her father, John Wood, may have been a descendant of an earlier branch of the Wood/Atwood family. Elizabeth (Wood) Mullins is named as the first wife of William Mullins. It is believed that William Mullins married 1st Elizabeth Wood, daughter of John Wood and Joan Wood (Taylor). She died prior to 1604. William's son William Jr., and daughter Priscilla were children of his first marriage.
