The Inquisitions Post Mortem held in 1408 for her grandfather, John Cobham, knight, state:
"Joan wife of Nicholas Hawberk, knight, is his kinswoman and next heir, being the daughter of Joan, his daughter, aged 30 years and more" [b. abt. 1378].
DEATH
Inquisitions Post Mortem for Joan who was wife of John Harpeden, knight, Writ. 6 February 1434.
She died on 13 January last [1434]. Joan, wife of Thomas Brook, is her daughter and next heir, aged 30 years and more.

Joan de la Pole, Baroness Cobham (of Kent) was the daughter of Sir John de la Pole and Joan Cobham. She married, firstly, Sir Robert Hemenhale before November 1380. She married, secondly, Sir Reginald Braybroke before 1394. She married, thirdly, Sir Nicholas Hawberk circa 1406. She married, fourthly, Sir John Oldcastell, 1st and last Lord Oldcastell before 18 July 1408. She married, fifthly, Sir John Harpeden after 1417. She died on 13 January 1433/34, without surviving male issue. She was buried at Cobham Church, Cobham, Kent, England. From before November 1380, her married name became Hemenhale. From before 1394, her married name became Braybroke. From circa 1406, her married name became Hawberk. She succeeded to the title of 4th Baroness Cobham on 10 January 1407/8. From before 18 July 1408, her married name became Oldcastell. From after 1417, her married name became Harpeden.

First, wife of Robert de Hemendale of Polstead Hall, Norfolk, son of Ralph. They were married before November 1380 and had one son, William who died after 1391. Robert died 25 Sept 1391 and was buried in Westminster Abbey.
Secondly, wife of Sir Reginald Braybrooke of Cooling, Cobham and Pole, Kent, son of Gerard Braybrooke and Margaret de Longeville. They were married before 1394, most likely between Sept 1391 and Feb 1392. They had two sons and one daughter; Reginald, Robert and Joan, who married Sir Thomas Brooke. Reginald was wounded in the attack on the citadel at Sluys in Flanders, and died four months later at Middleburg on the Scheldt, Belgium on 20 Sept 1405, buried at Cobham Church.
Thirdly, second wife of Sir Nicholas Hawberk. They were married circa 1406 and had one son, John, who died as an infant. Nicholas died 09 Oct 1407.
Fourthly, second wife of Sir John Oldcastle/Oldcastell of Almesley, Herefordshire. They were married before 18 July 1408 and had one daughter, Joan, who died young. He led the first Lollard revolt in 1414, spent his last years in hiding in the West Midlands, but captured and taken to London for execution in 1417. He was hanged and burnt as a traitor at St Giles Fields on December 25th. Joan was released from the Tower after his execution, and her lands were restored to her.
Fifth, she was the wife of Sir John Harpenden of Harpsden and Swinbrook, Oxfordshire. They were married after 1417 and he died in May of 1438, buried at Westminster.
Joan died 13 Jan 1434, and buried at Cobham.

Origins
By his wive Joan he had two sons, William and John, and three daughters: Joan, wife of Ralph Basset of Weldon, Northampshire; Elizabeth a nun; and Margaret. His son William (1316), who is carefully to be distinguished from his uncle, married Margaret daughter of Edmund Peverel, and held propberty at Brington and Ashby, Northamptonshire. He died on 26 June 1366, leaving a son John, who married Joan, daughter of John lord Cobham; by her he was father of Joan, baroness Cobham and wife of Sir John Oldcastle.
