About Joaquín Bayot
The Bayot brothers, Manuel, José, and Joaquín, rebelled against the Spanish government in 1822 due to discrimination between the Peninsulares and Insulares or Creoles, but they were subsequently arrested under the order of the Governor-General of the Philippines Mariano Fernández de Folgueras. They were tried and sentenced to life imprisonment.
