The following was taken from an old Bible, then in the possession of a Mrs. Bagby, in King and Queen county, Va., by Miss Adeline Gresham, of Burke county, Ga., shortly after the Confederate war, when Miss Gresham was visiting relatives in King and Queen county:

George Gresham and Sarah, his wife, were married May 10, 1732. William Gresham, the son of George Gresham and Sarah, his wife, was born Feb. ye 19th, 1733.
Joseph Gresham was born Nov. ye 25, 1734. George Gresham was born Dec. ye 20th, 1736. Thomas Gresham was born March ye 27, 1739. John Gresham was born March ye 20, 1741. Samuell Gresham was born Aprill ye 25, 1743. Richard Gresham was born March ye 9, 1745. Joel Gresham was born Aprill ye 20, 1747. Moses Gresham was born Nov. ye 18, 1749. Betty Gresham, the daughter of George and Sarah Gresham, was born the 20th day of Jan. 1752, and baptized 31 Jan. Dunbar and Joseph, sponsors. Job Gresham was born July 16, 1754.

Wills & Estate Documents. Will of Job Gresham Dated: August 10, 1821

In the Name of God Amen, I, Job Gresham being in a low state of health, but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament.

I give my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executors, as touching my worldly goods, I do leave it in manner and form following:

I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife all of my land and plantation whereupon I now live, also 5 negroes, namely, Titus, Ann, Jail, Bob and Dice, also 4 feather beds and furniture and all my household and kitchen furniture, except 3 beds which I do leave to my children, Lewis Gresham and Polly Johnson, one bed and furniture to each of them. Likewise to my beloved wife all of my stock of horses, cattle, sheep, hogs together with my wheat, rye, oats, and so long as she lives and after her death my will and desire is to give the said tract of land to my three sons, John, William, and Lewis to be divided to wit: To my son John Gresham the part where he now lives, beginning at Henry Owsley's corner at two walnuts, thence with said Owsleys line to a large dead elm in south line across the field to a drean (drain) that leads to my spring branch, from thence down the said branch to my old line including the land that I purchased from Painter and to commence at the mouth of the drean below my spring that I have divided for my son John Gresham from thence through the spring gate by the most north corner of my garden and apple orchard from thence a straight line to a corner between myself and John Denton where there is a small pile of rocks and each is to have an equal interest in the spring, Willliam Gresham is to have the part next to John Denton's and Lewis is to have the side where my dwelling is on the said land. I give and bequeath to John Gresham, William Gresham, and Lewis Gresham, to them, their heirs or assigns forever, also I leave and bequeath to my son Edmond Gresham one negro boy name Lige with what I have given him to him and his heirs forever. Also to my son Job Gresham one negro boy named Jacob together with what I have already given him, to him and his heirs forever, then after the death of my beloved wife Mary Gresham, my wish and desire is to sell all the property to be divided between Uriah Gresham and Phillip Gresham's heirs to wit: Permeda Gresham, James Gresham, Harrot Gresham, William Gresham and Phillip Gresham these children to have their fathers eighth part, Betsy Johnson, John Gresham, William Gresham, Lydia Gresham, Lewis Gresham, and Polly Johnson, whereas the last named eighth parts are to be equally divided after settling with each other the sums I now charge them with that is: Uriah Gresham $180.00, Phillip Gresham's children $250.00, Betsy Johnson $470.00, John Gresham $300.00, Lewis Gresham $90.00, and Polly Johnson $310.00.

I do also constitute and appoint Uriah Gresham, John Gresham, and William Gresham executors of this my last will and testament and I do hereby make void all other wills and testaments by me before made.

Land Records - Deed of Edmond Byne August 30, 1793

To all whom these presents shall come greetings, Know ye that I, Edmund Byne (Bine) of the State of Georgia and County of Burke, out of love I have and bear to my two daughters, Mary Gresham and Sally Lumpkin and divers other causes in thereunto moving, have given, granted and by these presents do absolutely give, grant unto the said Mary Gresham wife of Job Gresham and Sally Lumpkin the wife of Phillip Lumpkin and to their heirs and assigns forever and every part or parcel of my lands or locations or warrents to be located with all the money due from any person whatsoever with the lands I puchased of James Macklin and Samuel Greenwood that is to say that is in that county called Kentucky at the time I puchased lands and warrents to be located in that county. To have and to hold all the said lands and money and all the debts due me after complying with my agreements for the locations of the above mentioned lands to them the said Mary Gresham, wife of Job Gresham and Sally Lumpkin, wife of Phillip Lumpkin their heirs or assigns forever to their only proper use and belief against the claim of me the said Edmund Byne, my heirs and assigns that the above lands or money shall not be construed as touching any part of my estate that is in the State of Georgia. In witness whereof I the said Edmund Bine have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of August 1793 and in the 18th years of the Independence of America.

On page 358 are affidavits signed by Edward Telfair, Gov. of Georgia and Porter Willis Green. As to the creditability of Edmund Byne, Minister of the Baptist Church.
