About Job Meekly Morgan

His family lineage often gets confused, the proper lineage is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Morgan-11807

Marriage 10 Sep 1795. Burke, North Carolina, United States. Job married Sallie Hawkins.[1]

Jobe Morgan was in a tax record in 1803 in Jackson, Tennessee, United States.[2]

In the 1820 census Jobe was in Jackson, Tennessee.[3]

Job was in a record on 26 April 1822 in the Mountain District Land Grants, Jackson, Tennessee.[4]

In the 1830 census Jobe was in Jackson, Tennessee.[5]

In the 1840 census Job was in District 9, Jackson, Tennessee.[6]

In the 1850 census Job (age 79), Farmer, was in District 9, Jackson, Tennessee, United States, with his wife, Sally. Job Morgan was born about 1771 in North Carolina.[7]

Job died on 1 January 1857 and was buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson County, Tennessee, United States.[8]

Job was mentioned on a memorial in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson County, Tennessee, United States with a death date of 1 January 1857. Information found there: "This Job Morgan (never called Job Meekly, who was his son) was the son of Joseph Morgan and Nancy Curtis.

Job married 10 Sep 1795 Sarah "Sally" Hawkins. 1800 Burke Co, NC census lists him as "Joab Morgan." 1830 Jackson Co, TN shows him as "Jobe Morgan" 1850 Jackson Co TN 1850 District 9 Job Morgan 79 wm farmer NC Sally " 72 wf NC

A History of Putnam Co (McClain) p. 15...Job Morgan came from NC about 1801 and settled on Spring Creek, then in the newly formed county of Jackson. He was the grandfather of the late Gen. George H. Morgan, prominent in Putnam Co affairs.

In 1805, Sally and Job were members of the Baptist Church at Spring Creek.

Family records show that Job brought a book with him to TN, with his name and a date inscribed, Job Morgan, Aug 3rd, 1802. It is assumed that he came to TN but not before the 1802 date. They were for sure in Jackson Co as early as 1805, according to the minutes of the Roaring River Baptist Church under date of First Saturday in Jan 1806, we read, "Received by letter Job Morgan and his wife.." The family stopped first on the Duck River, secured land and established a home, but after a time they moved on to Spring Creek, a tributary of Roaring River." [9]

A note on his profile at Family Search, and some folks trying to align him with the Morgan Association, and folks have made various write-ups to skew things that way: "1st cousin once removed to Daniel Boone

There seems to be an issue with this person's relatives.

Additional information: LifeSketch:"Job Morgan and his family came to Tennessee somewhere between 1802 and 1805. He was a crippled man and was not in the war; was the son of Joseph & Nancy Curtis Morgan. Joseph Morgan of Burk Co. NC was in the Revolutionary War & was Sheriff of NC. Jobe as a boy guarded prisoners. Sallie (Hawkins) Morgan, wife of Jobe Morgan, was a daughter of Augustin Hawkins and his wife, Elizabeth, whose maiden name was Henley. Jobe Morgan his wife & the children then born came to Jackson Co. before 1811 and settled on Spring Creek. Joe (Joseph) Morgan entered land on Spring Creek, lived there awhile & then moved down to what is known as the Laborn Loftis Place. Their place is now owned by Dewey West. Joe (Joseph) Morgan & wife Sallie are buried on the Bartlett Place near Early Lane Store; graves are at the foot of a Postoak Tree." [This Joe (Joseph) I think is supposed to be Job]
