Biography

Job was baptised on 13 Jan 1610/11 as Job Seare at Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, England,[1] the son of Francis Sayre and Elizabeth Atkins.

He emigrated to America before 1638. Thomas Sayre and his brother Job Sayre were each granted 60 acres of land in 1638 at Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. [2]

He was examined in 1640 by Dutch magistrates in New Amsterdam when he gave his birthplace as "Bretfordshire".

The village of Southampton, now on Long Island, began with a small group of English Puritans who set sail from Lynn, Massachusetts and landed on June 12, 1640 at what is now known as Conscience Point. These settlers included Job Sayre, his brother Thomas Sayre, Edward Howell and Josiah Stanborough, amongst a small handful of others. [3]

That there appears to be no interest in him in the US possibly indicates that he didn't marry or have children

He did not die at Southampton, Suffolk, New York, on 1 Apr 1694. It was his nephew who died on that date.[4]
