BURIAL: buried on his farm in Old Dutch Cemetary. Located 1/2 mile off County Rd 5 about 1 m ile SWof the intersection with State Route 9.

"Friedensaal church, Springfield township, York county, Pennsylvania, records these items: Johann Valentin Philip b. 11/22/1775 bap. 6/23/1776 parents Henrich and Anna Maria Alt witnessess Heinrich Walther, the grandfather [Register of Friedensaal (Schuster's) Church Springfield township York county Collelctions of the Historical Society of York County pg 12]. Phillip married in York county, and at least two of his children were born there. Baptismal records for these two are found in the files of Friedensaal church as follows: Elizabeth b. 5/7/1799 parents Phillip Alt Elizabeth witnessess Andreas and Elizabeth Lau [Register of Friedensaal (Schuster's) Church Springfield township York county Collections of the Historical Society of York County pg 34]; Frederick b. 8/28/1800 bap. 1800 parents Phillip Alt Elizabeth Witnesses Valentin and Suana Alt. [Register of Friedensall (Schuster's) Church Springfield township York county Collections of the Historical Society of York County pg 34]. Phil and Elizabeth were witnesses at the baptism of Daniel son of Valentine and Susan Alt, at Christ Lutheran Church York, Pennsylvania, April 26, 1801 [Christ Lutheran Church York Pa. Collections of the Historical Society of York County Vol. 2 pg. 215]. Phillip Alt's name appears on the orginal personal property assessment lists for Shrewsbury township, York county, Pennsylvania, for 1800. The Belmont county, Ohio assessment lists carry his name in the files for June 20, 1810. On November 19, 1811 Phillip Ault received by deed the title to part of Section 2 town 7 range 4 Belmont county, Ohio [Belmont County Deeds Book D pg. 156]. Phillip Ault died January 7, 1849, and was buried in the "Old Dutch" cemetery south of St. Clairsville, Belmont county [tombstone inscriptions]. His will signed January 7, 1849, was admitted to probate on January 27, 1849. His heirs [Belmont county Ohio Probate case 2337] were the following: the widow, Elizabeth; daughters: Elizabeth (Mrs. John Ault); Susanna (Mrs. Elisha Lucas); Anna Maria (Mrs. John F. Ault); Katharine (Mrs. Philip Jarrett); Magdaline (Mrs. David Weyer); sons: John; Andrew Franklin; Henry; Philip; Valentine; Daniel; Joseph; children of son Frederick, deceased; child of son Christopher, deceased. Will of Phillip Ault - - - Phillip Ault of sound and disposing mind do hereby on this the seventh day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty nine, will and bequeath my personal property as follows. My personal property to be equally divided among my children & grandchildren viz: Elizabeth Ault the heirs of Frederick Ault deceased - Susannah Lucas or Ault - John Ault the heirs of Christopher Ault deceasd viz: Elizabeth Jane Ault - Andrew Ault - Henry Ault - Mary Ault - Catharine Ault or Jarrett - Philip Ault - Madaliina Ault or Weir - Valentine Ault - Daniel Ault and Joseph Ault my legal sons and daughters and grandchildren wiith this exception that Elizabeth Jane Ault is to receive one hundred dollars out of my personal property in addition to two hundred dollars of vandue money making in all three hundred dollars. Also Catharine Lucas daughter of said Susanna Lucas is to recieve three hundred dollars besides the fulfilling the indenture between her and me - father. Phillip Ault married Elizabeth Lau [Records of St. Paul's Wolfe's) reformed Church West Manchester township York county collections of the Historical Society of York county pg 9], daughter of Andrew Lau [York county Pa wills Book C pg. 426] of York county Pennsylvania. As noted above, on page 55, Elizabeth and her sister Susanna married brothers, Susanna being wife of Phillip's brother Valentine. Their aunt, Catharine Lau, had married Valentine Ault, uncle of Phillip and the younger Valentine [York county Pa. Wills Book L pg. 357-59]. Elizabeth (Lau) Ault died November 24, 1852 (tombstone inscriptions) and was buried beside her husband. Many of the descendants of Phillip and Elizabeth live in Belmont county Ohio and until 1946 one of them was still in possession of his farm."
