About Johan Viljoen
Johan Viljoen (1983 - 2002)
Brief overview:
Johan (19), A young cheesemaker of Zevenfontein guest farm, was still in a critical condition in the Hoogland Medi-Clinic in Bethlehem after the farm attack, described as one of the most brutal yet. Viljoen had 85% burn wounds. Johan received a biological artificial skin at the weekend to limit moisture loss, says condition suddenly deteriorated yesterday morning.
Dr. Johann Vermaak, the surgeon who treated him from last Thursday evening, and staff from the
Hoogland-Medi-Clinic tried for about 40 minutes to save his life after his heart stopped. Their efforts
however were in vain.
Viljoen was attacked by a group of masked men on Thursday evening at the guest farm Zevenfontein, where he worked as a cheese maker. Fuel was poured over him and he was set on fire. The house was also set on fire and burned out. The motive for the attack is a mystery.
