About Johann Friedrich Beckmann
Johann Friedrich was born in Trampke near Stargard in Pommern on 15 September 1854. Now Tra̧bki, Poland. His birth surname was Brüske. He came to South Africa aboard the Cesar Godeffroy on 12 April 1858 when he was 4 years old. He and his family settled in Keiskammahoek. He married Emilie Louisa Lange and they had 5 children. August Friedrich, Robert Heinrich (my grandfather), Ardern, Ernst Herbert and Edith. He died at the age of 41 years and 9 months on 29 June 1896 at his house in Rabula.
