It was this profession that he doubtless made the acquaintance with the Sloo/Todd sisters. Later, when brother John Jacob came to America, John married Sarah Todd, a girl whose mother was the half-sister of Jane Sloo, 1st wife of Henry Spingler... Henry Spingler being another fellow German countryman with a stall in the Fly Market.
p.211 : (circa 1801) Henry Astor engaged in the practice of forestalling the cattle market in NY and was reprimanded.
