Firsthand account: Donald Whiddon Howard, 91 years (living), the father of Donald Dwayne Howard (myself) had told the story, passed down by his ancestors, of our Young and Goodnight ancestors had reportedly traveled to America together on the same ship. This, he thinks, is the reason there have been several Goodnight and Young inter-marriages over the years. In addition, a cousin of Donald Whiddon Howard has independently stated that the same stories have been remembered by his parents, including the name of the ship (Neptune), along with the date of immigration. Newly found records show both ancestors, Johann George Jung, and Hans Michael Goodnight are indeed listed as passengers together on the ship, Neptune, which made port in Philadelphia in the year of 1752, sailed by Capt. John Mason from Rotterdam.
