[Family from "Eighteenth Century Emigrants", Vol 1, The Northern Kraichgau, by Annette K Burgert.] Comments Who was the father of Johann "Hans" George Coble II/Sr.? The Coble family is of German (near Switzerland) origin. Traditionally, the father of Johann "Hans" George Kobel II was thought to be Nicholas Kobel, born 1628 in Germany, and the grandfather was Johann George Kobel I. Through him, our earliest ancestor was Alrecht Kobel, living in Switzerland in 1406. However, researcher John W. Boring lists Bernhard Gobel (b. abt 1625, Germany) as the father of Johann George Kobel II, and "Anna Maria" as his mother.

Johann "Hans" George Kobel emigrates from Germany In 1733, Johann George Kobel III and his wife, Maria Barbara Geisler, emigrated to the New World from Germany. They were likely part of a large group of Palatines who sailed (in the cramped quarters of ten crowded ships) from England in April of 1710. Of the Palatines it is said, "...these people were honest and laborious men who had once been thriving burghers of Manhiem and Hidelbery, and who had cultivated the vine on the banks of the Rhine..."; an idyllic description.
