About Johann Bernhard Livingston
The book 'from Harleyville to Beulah Land' by June M. Gardner, which is about the Livingston, Williamson and other related families states:
'Johannes Bernhardt Liebenstein was born in 1704 in Baden, Germany, the son of George Liebenstein and Maria Magdalena Lauseher. He and his brother Hans Martin left Germany in 1727, arriving in Philadelphia that year. Johannes was first married to Maria Sybylla in about 1728. They had four children....In 1739, they were divorced. Bernhardt's first wife and four children kept the name of Liebenstein or Lowenstein...Bernhardt Liebenstein changed his name to Bernard Livingston after he married his second wife, Margaret Smallgrove in the 1740s. They had four children: Martin Luther, John, Bernard and Michael. "
