About Johann Peter Voltz
immigrated to Philadelphia on August 26, 1751 from Rotterdam, Holland (now Netherlands) (age unknown) on the ship Anderson. Military records from Virginia show that he fought in the Revolutionary War, guarding Hessian captured troops in Winchester, Virginia. Early records list Mary as his wife. Other spellings of the name include Foltz, Voltz, Fultz and False. My father (Howard W. Foltz) always said it was pronounced False. (Source Howard B. Foltz, hwrdfoltz@gmail.com)
