Johann Peters was born circa 1754 at Ladekop, Gross Werder. He married Maria Bergen on 24 January 1776 at Ladekop, Gross Werder. He married Elizabeth M. Penner in 1803. He died after 1813 at Schoenhorst,  He and Maria Bergen immigrated in 1789 to Schoenhorst, Chortitza. 

In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Schoenhorst #2 (B. H. Unruh, p. 241) and in the 1801 Census at Schoenhorst #3. He was residing in Schoenhorst in 1809 per the Chortitza Colony Vaccination Lists. In the Oct 1816 Census he is listed at Schoenhorst #1.
