On Sunday morning last John Popp died at his home near this city at the age of 40 years, 3 months and 20 days. The deceased had been ill for over a year past with cancer of the stomach and death was a relief to his suffering.

He was a son of Conrad Popp of Rantoul and was born April 5, 1868 in that town. In November 1904, he was married to Theresa Birkholz of the town of Stockbridge and two years ago purchased what is known as the Cone place, adjacent to this city on the north. He was an industrious man and was doing well until illness overtook him and he was forced to quit work.

He leaves a widow, two children, his parents, four brothers and two sisters to mourn his untimely death. The funeral took place Tuesday from the Ebenezer church, Rev. W. A. Arpke officiating.
