Note: He [Jakob] resided in Weisshof, Prussia at the time of his baptism. In the 1835 Molotschna Colony Census he is listed at Konteniusfels #38, and is said to have immigrated to Russia in 1833. The entry also says that he transferred to Chortitza Colony in 1836 and that he was the son of Johann Vogt. However, one family record says he was the son of Paul Vogt (1724-1809) and Eva ____ (1746-1795). The age given for him in the 1835 Molotschna Census indicates he was born Abt 1767, but one family record says he was born in 1770. It is possible that there may actually be TWO Johann Vogts here! He transferred to Schoenwiese, Chortitza Colony in 1836 per Odessa Archive, Fonds 6, Inventory 1, File 4127.”
