She was married after Banns and with her parents consent to : George Francis Hammond who was aged 40 years, a widower and ' Timmerman ' from ' Buffelsdrift ' Oudtshoorn District. They were married at the NG Kerk, Oudtshoorn on 20 August 1865 by Presiding Minister, Ds N.G. Pert ? in the presence of the following witnesses : G.Kitson ? / G.T.T. Scheepers

Cape Civil Deaths - Entry for November 1937 Johanna Maria Dawson ( previously Hammond ) nee de Jager }passed away on 10 November 1937 at her residence on the farm ' Buffelsdrift ' Oudtshoorn District. She was aged 91 years, an old age pensioner ( OA 20207 ) a housewife and widow who died of Chronic Bronchitis and heart failure, chronic nephritis having been ill for 14 days with Dr J. Strusses ? in attendance.
