Eintrag im »Gedenkbuch« des Bundesarchivs:
Kander, Johanna geb. Levinstein geboren am 08. März 1893 in Wichmannshausen/Eschwege/Hessen-Nassau
wohnhaft in Kassel / Kassel
Deportation ab Kassel 09. Dezember 1941, Riga, Ghetto
Johanna may have used the last name "BLUM" which was the last name of her mother's sister Sarah BLUM nee Heilbrunn of Borken. If this is indeed the case it may be because Johanna's mother died when Johanna was 11 years old and Johanna may have been raised at the home of her "Aunt Sarah" Blum of Borken. Johanna's cousin Emma Katz was most likely also raised at Aunt Sarah home after Emma Katz lost her mother (Emma nee Heilbrunn) at birth.
Cousin Emma was about 5 years older than Johanna and she (Emma Katz) trgically died at age thirteen.
