About Johannah "Jane" Streeter
Johannah, who used the name Jane, was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Along with her husband, she was one of the earliest settlers of Hinsdale, New Hampshire. According to the Gazetteer of Cheshire County, they "moved to Hinsdale at an early date, locating in the southern part of the town, where [they] lived several years, then located in the northern part." They bought land there on April 10, 1787 after previously living in Rhode Island and Winchester, New Hampshire.
She and her husband are buried in the North Hinsdale Cemetery, next to the Baptist Church.
