About Johannes Albrecht

John arrived in United States from Germany one month before his brothers Ludwig, Jacob, Philip, and Henry arrived with their father Hendrik. Records of the Port of Philadelphia list Johannes Albrecht and his wife Anna Barbara (maiden name not listed) as Palatine passengers of the "Johnson Galley" which arrived from Rotterdam on September 18, 1732.

The ages of the five children on arrival were: Matelina-16 (she was mistakenly listed as "under 14"), Barbara-13, Christian-6, Jacob-5, and Lodawick-10 months who was born November 11, 1731 in Ruttenberg, Germany.

Johannes settled in that part of Lancaster County, PA that was taken into Berks County. The earliest records were land grants (Lancaster County) in 1740, 1741 and 1743:

Pennsylvania Archives, Volume XXIV: John Albrecht, 100 acres, June 20, 1740 John Albrecht, 100 acres, June 3, 1741 John Albrecht, 25 acres, Feb. 8, 1743.

This section of Berks County was the western part which included Bern Township where, the records show, most of the Berks County Albright families lived.

Occupation: Farmer

The Albrecht family were immigrants from the Palatinate region of Germany. They sailed from Rotterdam on the ship Johnson of the Holland Amerika Linie on 9/18/1732.

They settled in Lancaster Co., PA in the part that became Berks Co. when it was established in 1752.

Five children, ages 1-16, accompanied them. A sixth, Judith, was born in 1734 in PA.
