Johannes Frederick Gerhardus Kloppers is the only child of Coenraad Christoffel Kloppers(1820-1888) and Martha Louisa Steyn(1822-…).
He married Maria Elizabeth Helena Fouche and a few months after the birth of their first child, Coenraad Christoffel she died in 1872 in Cradock.
In 1873 Johannes Gerhardus Frederick Kloppers married the second time to Aletta Elizabeth van Heerden and they had eight children. Herculina Johanna (1873), Martha Louisa (1874), Aletta Elizabeth (1878), Pieter Willem (1880), Johannes Gerhardus Frederick (1882), Pieter Schalk (1884), Anna Maria Catherina (1886) Maria Magdalena (1888). Aletta Elizabeth van Heerden died in 1888 after the birth of Maria Magdalena.
Johannes Frederick Gerhardus Kloppers married the third time to Anna Sophia Jansen van Vuuren, who died of childbirth with the birth of their daughter, Anna Sophia born 1898 Six of the children accompanied their parents on the Henry-Steyn Trek in 1895 to Gazaland - Southern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). The other three children are not mentioned in the book: "Pioneertrekke na Gazaland". SP Olivier.
From the book: "Pioneertrekke na Gazaland". SP Olivier: The trek stayed at Sandnek for a few days for the birth of Anna, daughter of Pieter and Anna Steyn. Johannes (Hans) Kloppers decided to finish his half built wagon and joined the trek.
Johannes Frederick Gerhardus Kloppers married the fourth time to Christina Gertrude Bekker, widow of Hendrik Bekker who was part of the Kruger Trek in 1895. Christina Gertrude died in 1912
He died May 15, 1930 aged 79 on the farm Lavinasrust, Melsetter, Southern Rhodesia.
His second wife, Aletta, was the sister of joint leader Johannes Gerhardus Frederick Steyns wife - so he was previously the son-in-law of the joint leader.
