Johannes "Marius" Mynhardt (1948 - 2002)

Marius (53), who was shot in front of his house in Mitchellsingel on the morning 26th Feb 2002, which left Brakpan Residents of the Brenthurst neighborhood deeply shocked.

Martin Mynhardt (27), only son of the deceased, said last night: My father was on his way to me
then, because we wanted to go and load sand and bricks. According to all indications, he parked the van in front of the house and hooked the trailer when he was shot dead with four shots for no reason.

Petro Mynhardt (49), told family after the incident that her husband called her and shouted: Mom, help, I've been shot! After that he walked about seven steps in the direction of his house where he collapsed in the driveway and died.

A cousin of the deceased, Johannes Mynhardt, said Mrs. Mynhardt called his dairy hysterically. I rushed to the scene. When I got there, the paramedics were already doing emergency treatment, but he died on the spot without speaking to anyone again.

Why was he shot dead so senselessly? Did they just shoot because it's fun for them? Something must done now to end these senseless murders. It is time for the government to act.

Insp. Joep Joubert, police spokesman, said the two murderers walked down the street, shot Mynhardt and ran from the scene. We haven't been able to find a motive yet. Apparently there wasn't even an attempt to rob the vehicle.
