Jun 2, 1779: Rockingham Co., VA Minute Book 1778-1786, p 176, : "For suppressing the Tories," Phillip Harper reimbursed for pasturage of 16 horses for one night at 4 each.
Note: I had the privilege of living in the town he was born in, for three years. It's a beautiful little village, with a small, white, Catholic church building, which had been there for some time before he was born. Many of the houses, there, would have been there when he was born, too. - Noelani
