About John Tyler Allen
Birth: 1842 Death: Jul. 17, 1874
' John T. Allen was enlisted June 20, 1862, by Capt. Miller in Savannah in Co. C., 21st Battalion, Georgia Cavalry and when the 7th Georgia Cavalry was formed, he was transferred to Co. B of the 7th, but for only a short time. On February 19, 1864, Pvt. John Allen transferred to the 22nd Battalion, Georgia Artillery.
"John Tyler Allen served in the Civil War along with his four brothers, Marcus Lafayette, Thomas J. who is reported to have died on the way home from the war, Rufus who was killed in the battle of Corinth in Mississippi, and Alpheus." Taken from enumeration records at Kaufman Co. library. His mother was Charles' first wife, Mary Oliver from Virginia.
