John Annin's original name was JOHNSTONE. He and his wife originated from Annandale Scotland. When they emigrated to Amerian they settled in New Jersey and adopted the new name ANNIN. The was very common of emigrants to do when starting a new life in a new country. John's father as the 2nd Earl and 1st Marquis of Annandale, Scotland. John Johnston of Annandale, Scotland arrived in Bernards early 1722 takes title to 1,000 acres purchased for him by his father William Johnston. The settlement is known as Annin's Corner until the Revolution when the area was changed to Liberty Corner.
