Civil War Service:
Arledge, John, Private, K Company, 16th Regiment This company was from Polk County. John resided in Polk County and was by occupation the Polk County Clerk of Court prior to enlisting in Polk County at age 33 on April 20, 1861. Mustered in as Sergeant. Present or accounted for until hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia on October 14, 1862 with a gunshot wound; however, place and date wounded not reported. Reduced to ranks on November 5, 1862. Reported absent wounded or absent without leave until he was dropped from the rolls of the company on November 6, 1863. Retired to the Invalid Corps on October 19, 1864 by reason of disability.
