From the research files of Pam Wilson <wilsonpam@mindspring.com>:
Isaac Arledge moved to Henderson County in the 1840s and served as sheriff there in the 1840's and 1850's. His son Zeb was Chief of Police in Hendersonville for many years.
He was involved in an extended lawsuit with the Littleton Pittillo estate. See http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/8208/Pittillo.html for legal records.

The LDS IGI lists a son Larson born 1848 and Richard born 1849, but I have found no mention of these sons in either census/county records or family tradition. I believe the "Larson" is a mis-transcription of Louisa. I have no idea who the Richard listed in the 1850 census was, unless it was a son Isaac had before he married Rebecca, who would not have been old enough the be the mother of a 16-year-old at age 26.
A Testator Index to NC Wills lists a 1900 will for an Isaac ARLEDGE in WB 2/357 in Henderson County records.
