years.

Mr. Baird was born In Ireland 63
years ago. He came to the United
States when he was about 10 years
of age, and has resided most of the
time since in St. Lawrence and Frank
lin counties. For the past twenty five
or thirty years he hat lived in
this village, being among the earliest
settlers. He was a friend to every-
body and everybody his friend. He
served the town as overseer of the
poor for a long term of years,
and was acting in that capacity at
the time of his death. He was an
honored member of St. Regis Lodge.
I. O. O. F., of St. Regis Falls, and of
Elk Lodge F. and A. M. of Nichol-

Jerry LaPoint, he leaves an aged
sister who resides in St. Lawrence
county and other more distant rela

friends.

afternoon at the M. E. church under
the direction of the Odd Fellows, Rev.

mon. Forty or fifty Odd Fellows
and numerous Masons attended the
funeral in a body and accompanied
the remains to their last resting
place.

"Johnnie" as he was familiarly
called, will be greatly missed by all
in about town, his accustomed greeting
will no longer be heard, but It will be
many years before he is forgotten.
