Notes for JOHN BAKER: [1] 1753 bought land in Dale Parish on Falling Creek, Chesterfield County. He owned the old iron furnace and the mill; lived near his brother Thomas, and was closely allied with Rev. Eleazar Clay and the Hudsons , also from Hanover County. He left a will mentioning 1000 acres and 13 slaves. He furnished supplies for the Rev. War; sent 4 sons into the army. Six of his children moved to Cumberland County, Ky about 1800, a part of a large group of Chesterfield families. Two of the sons, Thomas and Martin, acquired skills to their iron furnace in Chesterfield County becoming expert gunsmiths.
John married Elizabeth HIDSON.
They had the following children: i. Sarah. ii. Elizabeth. iii. Ann. 11 iv. John (1750-1838) v. Martin. Born in 1756. vi. Thomas. Born in 1763. vii. William. Born in 1764.
