About John Banta
John Banta served as a revolutionary soldier (drummer in Capt. Hugh Campbell's company of the 2nd Battalion of York, PA) before migrating to Kentucky with group led by his Father, Henry Banta. Later he was one of the first to join the Shaker Community in Mercer, KY, donating his farm to the sect.
