Graveside Rites Held for Idaho Drowning Victim Graveside services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Afton Cemetery for John DeVere Barker, 51, who was found dead at Boise, Idaho Thursday, May 21, after drowning in the Boise River. Bp Neal Kennington of the Afton Third Ward was in charge. The grave was dedicated by George F. Burton. A native of Afton, DeVere was born here July 24, 1908, the son of George H. and Charlotte Ann Wilkes Barker. He left the valley in the '30's returning briefly in 1946-47 during his mother's illness. He lived most of the time in Idaho. Survivors include his former wife Mrs Glen Stack and two daughters Nora and Sharon, Salt Lake City, and the following brothers and sisters; Merl, Pocatello, Idaho; George L. Castro Valley, Calif.; Golden, Napa Calif; Neldon, Oakland, Calif.; Ardell, Lander Wyo.; and Mrs Blaine (Fern) Heap, Thayne.
