John and Bethia (Folger) Barnard were both drowned when their canoe overturned on a trip from Martha's Vineyard to Nantucket on June 6, 1669. There were no children.

John was born 2 MAR 1642 Nantucket, Nantucket Co., MA. He is the son of Robert Barnard and Joanna Harvey. He passed away in 1669.
He drowned while returning from the Vineyard, where he had been in pursuit of furniture, in company with Eleazer Folger Sr., Isaac Coleman, and an Indian, when the canoe upset and all perished except Eleazer Folger.
