About Lt. John Batson

John Batson was the son of John Batson and Elizabeth Sanders.1 He married Anna Odiorne.1 Lieut. John Batson was killed in a fight with Indians in October 1703 in Black Point, Maine, two months after his wife Anna and their children were carried captive to Canada.1

John Batson was ship carpenter. He was on a Maine jury in 1687, and was of New Castle, New Hampshire, in 1693. In 1697 he was on a New Hampshire jury, but had returned to Cape Porpus by 1698 and was living on his father's land. With Samuel Hill of Charlestown he built a sawmill in 1699. Later they took Joseph Storer as a partner. He had permission to keep a tavern in 1700 and 1701.1
