Will of John Bearden, Sumner Co. Tennessee (from book of wills and abstracts 1788-1842, page 221). First, it is my will my daughter Rebecca Parrish shall live on the tract of land (or) plantation she now lives on throughout her normal life. And at her death that land be sold within 12 months and money from the sale be equally divided between my 3 sons John Bearden, Lambert Smith Bearden, and Orange D. Bearden. Item (2) that my negroes be sold at Public sale within 12 months and money from sale be equally divided between my 3 sons John, Lambert Smith, and Orange D. And it is also my will that the rest of my land, my stokc, household and kitchen furnishings and everything else I possess be sold and money be divided between my 3 sons listed. Item (3) It is my will that the 7 children of my son Solomon have $100.00 each of my estate, they will need it. That money be placed in hands of Executor of my estate for their benefit at the decision of my Executor. Item (4) after my due debts are paid shall be equally divided between my three sons John, Lambert Smith, and Orange D. It is my will that my beloved son Orange D. Be allowed $100.00 more than the others as I appoint Orange D. Bearden Execurot of my Estate. This is my last will and testament. Orange D. Bearden as Security was placed under Forty Thousand Dollar Bond 6July 1837, County of Sumner, State of Tennessee. (The will was processed Sept. 1837)
