About John Bemis

Some confusion pertains to his date of death. However, I have seen his headstone and the probate records of his estate. In the probate records, his wife, Anna and son Abijah clearly affirm the settlement of his affairs on January 29, 1754, supporting the January 11, 1754 date shown in the Vital Records of Waltham (p. 252). [SteveDahlstrom]

Son of John Bemis and Mary Harrington Bemis. Husband of

  • (1) Hannah (Warren) Bemis, married 8 May 1710, and
  • (2) Anna (Livermore) Bemis, married 2 Apr 1713.

His first wife Hannah was the daughter of Daniel Warren Jr and Elizabeth (Whitney) Warren. His second wife Anna was the daughter of Samuel Livermore and Hannah (Bridge) Livermore. She later married Jonas Smith.

John Bemis was Constable at Watertown, in 1730, and Selectman in 1735.
