About John Birchard, I
John Birchard married Jane (Lee) Hyde, widow of Samuel Hyde after 1677.
She was the daughter of Thomas and Phoebe Brown, and the widow of Sam Hyde.
John Birchard was baptized January 31,1627/28 at Terling, Essex,England. OnSept 20,1635 he came from London, Eng. to New England on the ship "Truelove" with his parents and sisters, Elizabeth,Marie,Sarah,Susan and Ann. They went first to Hartford, then to Saybrook where he appears on the list of 40 grantees in 1650. On March 27,165l he owned land in Martha's Vineyard and in 1656 was the Town Clerk of Edgarton. On July 22,1653 he married his first wife Christian Andrews at Norwich.
She was born in England in 1630 and died after June of 1677.
The first five children died before reaching the age of four, as did Benjamin, their 13th child.
