About John Peter Blosser, I

John Blasser I paid taxes in Hopewell Twp. (formed from part of Shrewsbury Twp. in April 1767) on 150 acres of land they purchased on 25 January 1771.39 They sold 150 acres, 140 perches and 3 rods September 1792.40 They retained 11/2 acres and 16 perches of land in Shrewsbury Twp. which they sold to William G Elderkin on 10 August 1811.41 In this Deed John I was said to be a blacksmith.

Fayette Co., PA was opened up for settlement in 1783. Migration was moving west and caught the attention of the Blassers.

In 1792 John was found on the Springhill Twp., Fayette Co., PA tax rolls with 300 acres of land and 2 horses. In 1795 he was taxed on 500 acres, 2 horses and 2 cows. On 5 February 1796 John and Catherine Beery Blasser and John II purchased 566 acres at the forks of the Cheat and Monongahela Rivers from Sam Kinkaid inFayette Co.42

They operated a ferry across the Monongahela River to Greene Co.

John I and Catherine Beery Blasser's children, who probably were all born in York County, were:

  1. Abraham, born circa 1763;
  2. Susannah, born ca. 1765;
  3. John IT, born ca. 1767; Jacob, born ca. 1773;
  4. Nicholas, born ca. 1774;
  5. Isaac, born ca. 1777; and
  6. George, born ca. 1778.

John I and Catherine were alive and living with son Nicholas in Fayette Co., PA at the time Nicholas wrote his will on 11 August 1813. No record of their deaths of burial sites has been found.
