About John Bloxom
notes
Dr. George Corbin: Record first appears on the Eastern Shore of Virginia about 1678. Deposition discovered in 1680 -- he gives his age about 25. He lived and died in Northampton County, VA, but his descendants lived mostly in Accomack County.
He made a will dated September 25, 1711 which was proven at Northampton County Court on June 16, 1713. He refers to himself in the will as a "Chyrugeon". Other interesting spellings in the will show his name Corbin as Corben and Corbeene: "I give and bequeath to my two sonns Ralph and Robert Corbeene all my land that I have right unto being in the County of accomack and lying upon the mouth of Pocamoak River to be equally devided betwixt them..." His will also names his wife, "Sussanna Corbeene". Also names his daughter, Ann and husband John Bloxome. The "Pocamoak" River mentioned in the will is believed to be the Pocomoke River. For will see 14 DW & C p. 45, Northampton County, VA records.
