Joe Bourne John Franklin "Joe" Bourne, 82, of the White Oak area in Stafford County, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Bourne was a carpenter and welder. He worked at the FMC plant for 32 years and then later retired from the Stafford County Utilities Department. After retirement, he was a commercial fisherman. Joe was an avid runner and Civil War relic hunter. Mr. Bourne was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucille S. Bourne; three children, Henry F. Bourne and his wife, Yvonne, R. Wayne Bourne and his wife, Eileen, and Bonnie F. Bourne, all of White Oak; four grandchildren, Craig Bourne, Wendi Bourne and Matthew Bourne, all of White Oak, and Chris Bourne of Richmond; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nannie Turner, Linda Smith and Mary Newton, all of White Oak; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Jeri L. Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Bourne, Chris Bourne, Matthew Bourne, Jamie Turner, Claude Stevens and D.P. Newton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home.
