FOTHERINGHAM ARMIT BRUCE born 5th May 1808 died 5th Septr 1873. Requiescent in pace. [South face] In memory of a dearly loved sister JANE OLIPHANT BRUCE born June 5th 1838 died Dec 20th 1914. Asleep in Jesus. She hath done what she could. Note: John Bruce was married to Fotheringham Armit. He was a cabinet maker and also Governor of Kirkwall Prison [Orkney Family History Society: Monumental Inscriptions in St. Magnus Cathedral Cemetery, inscription number C/8/3]
