John was married to Rhoda Hendrickson the daughter of John Hendrickson of Ewing (Trenton) , Nj John and his Father James Burroughs both served during the winter at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War under George Washington. John and Rhoda are buried in the Presbyterian Churchyard in Ewing, NJ.
