John and Lydia moved to Hendricks county, IN in 1831, settling in Center Township. They are both buried next to Samuel and Louisa Cash Hawkins in the Danville East Cemetery.

On the 1830 Federal Census, Pulaski County, Kentucky, John was listed as head of the household. In addition to his wife, there were four male children and seven female children for a total of 13 in his household.
John patented land on July 1, 1831 in Hendricks County, Indiana. The land was located as the North fraction of the NW 1/4 Section 4, Twp 15N Range 1 West in District of lands subject to sale at Crawfordsville, Indiana, comprising 91.68 acres.
On the 1840 Federal Census, Hendricks County, Indiana, John is listed as the head of household with a wife and 12 children (4 males 8 females). He had remarried in 1839.
On the 1842 Tax List Hendricks County, Indiana, John was charged with tax on two parcels of land, the North 1/2 NW 1/4 Section 4, Township 15, Range 1 West, 98 acres, and part of East 1/2 SW 1/4 Section 33, Township 16, Range 1 West, 13 acres. The land was worth $500 and value of improvements $500. He had personal property worth $200 and the tax was $4.27.
John Cash's father, William Cash, is on Tax Records in Wilkes County, North Carolina from 1785-1811. William and his family had lived in Virginia prior to that time. Not positive when the move to North Carolina occurred.
This family, including the son, John Cash and other married children, left North Carolina and were living in Pulaski or Rockcastle County, Kentucky by 1811. William and many of his children, including John, appear on 1820 and 1830 Census reports in Kentucky.
John Cash married Lydia Barnes in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1815. "Kentucky, County Marriages, 1797-1954”. He remained in Kentucky until some time in 1830, when he moved his family to Hendricks County, Indiana. He purchased land on 1 July 1831. He is on census reports there in 1840.

He moved his large family to Hendricks County, Indiana before 1832. John Cash remained there until his death in 1845.
