Biography
It appears that John Church is also referred to as John Isaac Church, Isaac John Church, and John Church, Jr in various family trees.
John Church was born 5 Mar 1709/10 in Killingly, Windham, CT. [1] He married Amy Winter on 01 Jan 1735/36 in Killingly. [2] John and Amy were admitted to the Putnam Church on May 2, 1736. [3] They had seven children, all born in Killingly. He was a veteran of the French and Indian Wars. [4] On 19 Oct 1761 John Church of Killingly was selling 50 acres in Killingly for £80. Asa Church was a witness. [5] He sold half of his saw mill on 24 Jun 1762 and was listed as a cordwinder. [6] At some point he must have moved to Vermont since he died in Vershire, Organge, VT on 15 Feb 1806. [7] Children of John (Isaac) and Amey Winter Church[8]
Asa Church, 6/14/1738 - 1823;
Amy Church, 9/23/1740-1829;
Isaac Church, 1/31/1742-1836;
Elizabeth Church, 4/23/1744
Zerviah Church, 8/30/1747-1786; In a census, prob. 1850, listed as female;
Mary Church, 3/30/1750;
John Church, 5/9/1753-1838;
Other possible children: Samuel Church; Jacob Church, 1758-1759; Alpheus Church, 1764-1765; Maybe another Elizabeth Church, 1737; Could she have died since at least one other daughter was given the name Elizabeth and in one site, Amy was listed as Elizabeth Amy.
Notes
Most information comes from Ancestry family trees, with some actual documents. Problem, I think, is that John was a popular name. There is a John Church married to Lydia. In some trees John and Lydia Churches children are listed as half siblings to John and Amey Churches children. However, the children listed for Amey and John were born both before and after children born for John and Lydia. So unless John had two wives at the same time, that is incorrect.
