He enlisted Feb., 1778, in Col. Williss' Reg't, Conn. troops, serving two and one half years. His wife, Thankful EASTON, survived him, and was allowed a pension. In March, 1811, accompanied by their sons, Nathan and Oliver, Mr. and Mrs. Cleland settled in the town of Charlotte where another son, John, Jr., had settled the previous year
