Rev. War Pension application states his birth, listed as a private in the VA militia. He lived in Albemarle Co., Henry Co., then Patrick Co. VA before moving into North Carolina. He is listed in the DAR Patriot Index..His widow Elizabeth Parr applied for a widow's pension.(WPNS) She gave a list of her children and births on the pension. John Peter served as commissariat in supplying food for the soldiers. Rev. War Widow's pension gave date of 1781 as their marriage in Henry Co. VA. John Peter died in Hendersonville, NC and is buried in Ebenezer Cemetery there. DAR has placed a large marker in honor of his military service.

Elizabeth was the daughter of John and Miriam Parr of Henry Co. VA.

1864 in Kerrville, Kerr, TX. He married MARY ELIZABETH MCMINN 1840 in Buncomb Co, NC, daughter of

ROBERT MCMINN and SARAH KUYKENDALL. She was born March 09, 1821 in NC, and died October 1887 in

Angus, Lincoln, NM.

Notes for JOHN ROLAND CORN:

John Roland Corn was the oldest child of Peter and Mary Ann Corn.

Proof in Lois Dorsey book Cornstalks and Preachers. After his marriage to

Elizabeth McMinn in NC, they moved to Cherokee Co, GA, where

they were listed on the 1840 census. They are listed in Cherokee Co. GA on the 1850 census. They were not

found on any 1860 census, so it is assumed they were traveling to TX as John Roland is listed as a

Confederate conscriptee in 1862 in Kerr Co. TX.

John Roland Corn served in the Civil War. Papers received from National Archives in Washington. His son,

Robert also served from Kerr County. UDC supplementals granted.

Both John Roland and his son, Robert reportedly died during the war of the black tongue, a disease from

eating too much corn. They are buried in the Mt. View Cemetery in Kerrville, John Roland's grave is listed as

the oldest one in Mountain View Cemetery. New tombstones were placed for John Roland and son Robert

by Barbara Corn Patterson. Papers from National Archives stated that Civil War records on John Roland

could not be found. Texas Archives records show he was conscripted

for service 1862 and was listed as age 43, a stockraiser.

Marriage of John Roland Corn married Mary Elizabeth McMinn about 1840

in North Carolina. Their children were:

McMinn married Ben Watson in Bandera County TX. on 19 May 1868 and left him in Texas when she came

to NM about 1879. She is buried at Angus Cemetery. as Elizabeth Watson. Her

estate settlement was signed by Willis Woody Corn, her son. She is listed as E. Watson on those.

Elizabeth McMinn was the child of Robert McMinn and Sarah Kuykendall.

She was born in NC, probably Buncombe Co on 9 Mar 1821. She married John Roland Corn in 1840. No

record of marriage is available, but 1st child was born 1841,NC.

2nd marriage was to Ben Watson, The marriage record of Mary E. Corn to Ben Watson was found in

Bandera Co. TX, dated 19 May 1868. She left him in Tx when she came to NM.

Ben Watson was on the 1870 Kerr Co, TX census but not the 1880.

Elizabeth Corn came to NM in 1881 with the Corn wagon train, her son Peter

and son Willis Woody. She lived at Angus, NM.

Elizabeth is buried in Angus under the name Watson. Records in the clerk's office found her probate dated

November 7, 1887. Her son, Willis W. Corn was the administrator of the estate.Co, NM. Records reveal her

name was Mary Elizabeth, which has been disputed several times.

Notes for JASPER CORN:

Jasper Corn was a deputy sheriff for John Poe of Lincoln

Co. NM in 1884. He was sent after horse thieves and was shot and killed in

the process by Nicholas Arragon.

Articles in the Lincoln County news reported he died in a gunfight near

Anton Chico, NM. A White Oaks Era reported him dying near Gallinas Springs.

The article said he was buried near the springs. He was killed when Nicholas Arragon shot at him

and

hit the horse. The horse fell and injured Corn, then Arragon shot him again. Jasper lived

about 36 hours without having seen a doctor.

One report said he was buried on the Hatch Ranch, a former military post

of 1862, about 1930 the body was removed to Santa Fe, according to the owners

of the ranch. So the question still remains, where is Jasper Corn buried?

Jasper was listed in Kerr co. TX with his mother on the 1870 census. He

has not been found on the 1880. he probably arrived in Lincoln Co. about 1881

with the second wagon train coming from Kerrville, TX.

1, 1870 Kerr Co. TX Co. Record from Kerrville County Clerk. The entire marriage record is handwritten. His

death is recorded in tombstone pictures, Central Cemetery, Grant Co, NM. There is a small obit from the Silver

City newspaper. The stones are inside an iron fence. Also there is their son, J.J. News obit and funeral cards,

dated 13 Aug. 1915. No death cert. was available from Vital Statistics in Santa Fe.

are listed ont he 1910 census of Hagerman, Chavez Co. NM. They are in Hot Springs, Sierra Co,

on the 1930 census. She is buried at Angus, Lincoln Co.

He was killed 24 April 1896 by Robert A. Casey andf buried at Angus. Casey was found guilty of murder
